Festivals

A uniquely empowering cultural experience, we share the best films about the multifaceted local and global experiences of African/African Americans through our new cinematic storytellers–independent filmmakers of African descent. Each month for the past 17 years we have hosted a Black Independent Film Showcase at venues throughout the Dallas Ft. Worth Metroplex. In addition to the monthly screenings we have organized a number of festivals as part of the showcase.

To celebrate International Women’s History Month in March, the Sister’s of the Yam: Black Woman’s Film Festival, is organized with a full venue of films, filmmakers, poetry and discussion.

May is the designated time for the annual Black Man’s Film Festival.

SHORT AND SWEET: A DFW Black Filmmakers Showcase A two-hour compilation of amazing short films by African American filmmakers in the Metroplex area.  From experimental to documentaries to narrative dramas the showcase is highly entertaining and educational.
